Innovation and discovery in cardiovascular care

Innovations in care

Cardiovascular care is complex. There are no “one-size-fits-all” approaches. The concerns you’re experiencing are unique to you. As a patient of the HonorHealth Cardiovascular Center of Excellence, you’ll have access to advanced care that is not widely available elsewhere. This includes innovative tests, tools therapies, and trials that may have been pioneered by HonorHealth physicians and researchers.

Leading the way

HonorHealth strives to be at the forefront of medical technologies.  Because of this, you as a patient have access to the benefit of the latest tools to effectively manage any cardiovascular health concern – tools that are longer-lasting, less invasive and more definitive.

The HonorHealth Cardiovascular Center of Excellence provides procedures for a wide range of cardiovascular conditions. HonorHealth’s expert team of specialists have led the way on such medical advances as:

  • If you have atrial fibrillation (Afib), a number of treatment options are available to you, including catheter ablation that can destroy or block abnormal tissue using heat or cold techniques. The first fluoroscopy-free, radiation-free, complex atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia ablation in the state was performed by an HonorHealth electrophysiologist.
We also offer the latest in robotic ablation technology. This enables our electrophysiologists to navigate the heart with increased accuracy and safety.
  • Heart out of sync? You may be a candidate for an innovative cardiac resynchronization procedure such as that perfected by an HonorHealth electrophysiologist who restored a normal heart rhythm using the lowest fluoroscopy/radiation exposure in the world.
  • Open heart surgery used to be the only option for replacing an aortic valve. Now, you have access – even if you’re in your 80s or 90s – to a less invasive option. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) allows your team of specialists to make a small incision at the top of your leg or chest wall to thread a catheter to your heart.
  • If your doctor has indicated you’re a candidate for a vascular procedure, it’s important to first assess the health of your arteries, while minimizing your exposure to radiation. The first worldwide application of advanced vascular mapping technology with minimal radiation to stent heart and leg arteries was done by an HonorHealth interventional cardiologist. Use of this technology limits the total radiation exposure to less than one minute.
