Bringing You Hope for Today, Innovation for Tomorrow with Clinical Trials
When you're battling cancer, you want access to all the treatment options available. As you search for hope and healing, you need a center with the most advanced treatments, latest technology and innovative procedures.
The Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center offers you all the treatment options possible to help you fight cancer. Clinical trials offer access to investigational treatments — sometimes years before a drug is readily available on the market — in our state-of-the-art facility.
Clinical trials provide valuable information to help us better understand cancer and how to treat it. Thanks to the many patients who have participated, major advances have been made in the fight against cancer. Through clinical trial breakthroughs, we're able to provide advanced treatments and innovative procedures, offering more hope and healing than ever before.
Giving You Greater Access to Clinical Trials
The Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center offers more Phase I clinical trials than any other cancer center in Arizona. We often are the first site in the world to evaluate a new therapy in a Phase I trial.
We're accelerating promising new cancer treatments through the study of cancer genetics thanks to partnerships with the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), a leader in developing treatments for complex diseases and genetic studies, as well as leading pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms and academic universities.
When Should You Consider a Clinical Trial?
Through innovations in research, clinical trials are quickly becoming a preferred first course of treatment for patients who want access to the latest advances in medicine. Those who seek clinical trials are drawn by the opportunities to be treated by some of the brightest minds in their fields with the most promising therapies, technologies and techniques.
You may be a strong candidate for a clinical trial if you meet any of the following qualifications:
- You have advanced cancer that has not responded to standard treatment. We may offer access to promising new drugs and technologies for your cancer.
- You have melanoma, pancreatic, lung, breast or colon cancer. We are recognized as a leader in the research and treatment of these cancers.
- You have a rare cancer — thymus, adrenal, basal cell, medullary thyroid, sarcomas. We have one of the few programs in the country that focuses on these rare types of tumors.
