The ingredients of this easy avocado salad recipe combine to create the ultimate dish for a healthy heart.
Avocado is an excellent source of glutathione, an important antioxidant for preventing heart disease. Its high levels of folate are also great sources for stroke prevention. One cup of avocado has 23 percent of the recommended daily value of folate. Tomatoes are packed with vitamins and lycopene, proven ingredients to help reduce the risk of heart disease. Several natural heart remedies include garlic and lemon. Lemon contains flavonoids, plant pigments that have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties known to reduce high blood pressure.
2 avocados, split
2 tomatoes, diced
1/2 red onion, diced
1/2 serrano chili, diced
2 teaspoons granulated garlic
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 lemons, juice only
Salt & pepper to taste
1. Combine all of the above in a bowl. Mix well.
2. Stuff avocados with mixture.
3. Serve with spicy beef or chicken on shredded lettuce, on the side.
