Quality dermatology - HonorHealth Dermatology Residency Program

Quality dermatology

The program’s goal is to train residents to provide patients with the highest quality of care and expertise. The program’s practitioners specialize in the treatment of malignant melanoma by using slow Mohs surgery. Mohs surgery is the gold standard of care for many patients diagnosed with skin cancer, and this is the only practice in Arizona with six surgeons. Slow Mohs surgery is a skin-sparing procedure that allows for the recognition of pigmented cells unlike frozen sections used with regular Mohs surgery. Slow Mohs surgery is the definitive surgical technique for complete removal of normal tissue.

Mission

To give each trainee the educational and practical experience to allow demonstrable expert clinical competency in the care of adult and pediatric diseases of the skin and its appendages in a professional learning environment of scholarship and cooperation. Education, in conjunction with excellent patient care, is the primary purpose of the program.
