HonorHealth receives grant to provide infant car seats to those in need

Scottsdale, Ariz. (Nov. 28, 2023) – HonorHealth, a leading Valley healthcare system serving more than five million people in the greater Phoenix metro area, has been awarded a grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety to provide infant car seats to those in need.

The HonorHealth Women’s and Infant’s service line will use the $13,000 grant to purchase infant car seats that will be donated to families in need following a delivery at an HonorHealth medical center or through the emergency room, if a family’s car seat has been damaged in an accident.

“Newborns are not permitted to leave the hospital without a proper car seat following delivery. The same policy applies to infants following an accident that causes damage to their existing car seat,” said Yvonne Kerr, supervisor of the HonorHealth Women’s Center support services department. “We want all kids to be safe and are thrilled to play a role in this effort.”

The goal of the Office of Highway Safety’s program is to improve the use of seatbelts and child safety seats to reduce the number of fatalities and injuries due to vehicular crashes throughout Arizona.
