HonorHealth advances robotic pancreatic surgery

In 2025, Aryan Modasi, MD, and the HonorHealth surgical team performed 42 robotic Whipple procedures, placing the program among the highest-volume centers in the country.

With an average operative time under 207 minutes and efficiency metrics in the top decile nationally, the team continues to refine a minimally invasive approach to one of the most complex abdominal operations.

Why this matters

Pancreatic cancer remains one of the most challenging malignancies we treat. For appropriately selected patients, surgical resection, most commonly the Whipple procedure, offers the only potential for cure.

Advances in robotic techniques may support improved recovery, surgical precision and expanded access for patients who qualify.

A multidisciplinary effort

These outcomes reflect close coordination among surgical oncology, medical oncology, gastroenterology, radiology and perioperative teams. Determining candidacy and sequencing treatment requires shared decision-making across specialties.
