Kaveh Najafi, DO, trauma medical director at HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center, has been named the 2026 Arizona Trauma Medical Director of the Year (Level I Trauma Center) by the Arizona Department of Health Services' Bureau of EMS and Trauma System.
Peer-nominated and stakeholder-reviewed, the award recognizes a medical director who strengthens Arizona's trauma system beyond standard responsibilities. Dr. Najafi joined HonorHealth nine years ago and was named permanent trauma medical director in 2024. He has led the program through two successful American College of Surgeons (ACS) verifications and serves on the State Trauma Advisory Board and as a state trauma reviewer, helping shape trauma standards across Arizona. His academic and research contributions are equally notable. He is an associate professor at Arizona State University, vice chair of the HonorHealth Multicenter Research Consortium and an investigator on multiple clinical trials, including a Department of Defense-funded study focused on traumatic brain injury. This recognition reflects the clinical rigor, accountability and commitment to improving patient outcomes that he brings to the role and Arizona's broader trauma system.
