About

Andrew Yang, MD, MS, is a neurosurgeon specializing in the surgical diagnosis and treatment of drug-resistant epilepsy. He brings extensive experience directing an epilepsy surgery program, with additional expertise in the surgical management of brain tumors, cranial nerve disorders, certain psychiatric disorders and spine conditions. Dr. Yang earned his medical degree from New York University Grossman School of Medicine and his master's degree in biomedical engineering from Duke University, completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania and pursued fellowship training in stereotactic, functional and epilepsy neurosurgery at Emory University.

Dr. Yang provides comprehensive neurosurgical care with clinical expertise in epilepsy surgery, deep brain stimulation, stereoelectroencephalography and stereotactic laser ablation. He offers specialized treatment for seizures, brain tumors, cranial nerve disorders including trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm, and psychiatric disorders such as depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder. His practice also encompasses cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine surgery for degenerative spine disease, along with vagus nerve stimulation, responsive neurostimulation and general neurosurgical care.

Dr. Yang's approach to neurosurgical care centers on a personalized treatment philosophy focused on quality of life for each patient and their family. He remains active in all aspects of general neurosurgery while maintaining specialized focus on complex epilepsy cases. Dr. Yang also leads an active research program aimed at providing translational links between human neurophysiology and clinical neuromodulation, guiding the rational design of brain-stimulation therapies for epilepsy as well as investigative indications for cognitive and psychiatric disorders. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the American Epilepsy Society, the American Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

Dr. Yang is fluent in Korean in addition to English, allowing him to connect with a broader range of patients and families throughout their treatment journey.
