Joseph Sheridan, MD

Joseph Sheridan, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand, wrist and elbow care. He earned his medical degree from the University of California San Francisco, where he also completed his orthopedic surgery residency. During his training at UCSF and San Francisco General Hospital, he received the Krevans Award for Clinical Excellence and was named Surgical Consultant of the Year. He then pursued advanced fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery at the University of California Los Angeles.

Dr. Sheridan provides comprehensive surgical and nonsurgical care for conditions including fractures, sports injuries, arthritis, tendon and ligament injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome and Dupuytren's disease. His expertise includes minimally invasive procedures, fracture repair, tendon and ligament reconstruction, wrist arthroscopy and treatment of hand and wrist arthritis. When appropriate, he also offers WALANT (wide-awake local anesthesia no tourniquet), which allows certain hand procedures to be performed without general anesthesia.

Dr. Sheridan believes care should be tailored to each person's goals, lifestyle and daily activities rather than focused solely on a diagnosis or imaging results. He takes time to understand how an injury or condition affects a patient's work, hobbies, sports and quality of life before developing a personalized treatment plan. Whenever possible, he emphasizes effective nonsurgical and minimally invasive treatment options and recommends surgery only when it offers a meaningful benefit. His goal is to help patients recover function, reduce pain and get back to doing what they love.

Originally from Scottsdale, Arizona, Dr. Sheridan enjoys golfing, fly fishing, snowboarding, basketball, playing guitar and piano, and spending time with family and friends.
