Neil Majmundar, MD

Neil Majmundar, MD, is a board-certified neurosurgeon who specializes in the treatment of diseases affecting the blood vessels of the brain and spine, including brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), stroke, carotid disease, and intracranial atherosclerosis. He also cares for patients with a broad range of general neurosurgical conditions involving the brain and spine including brain tumors, hydrocephalus, and disc herniations.

Dr. Majmundar is uniquely trained in both open microsurgical and minimally invasive endovascular (catheter-based) techniques. This allows him to tailor treatment to each patient’s specific condition, selecting the approach that offers the safest and most effective outcome rather than relying on a single technique.

He completed his neurosurgery residency at Rutgers University-New Jersey Medical School, followed by advanced fellowship training in endovascular surgical neuroradiology at Barrow Neurological Institute. He earned his medical degree from Rutgers University and his bachelor’s degree in Neural Science from New York University.

Dr. Majmundar’s care philosophy emphasizes clear communication, thoughtful decision-making, and individualized treatment planning. He works closely with patients and their families to explain options, weigh risks and benefits, and develop a plan aligned with each patient’s goals. When appropriate, he combines medical management with minimally invasive or surgical treatment and provides structured follow-up to support long-term recovery.

He remains actively involved in clinical research focused on improving outcomes for patients with stroke, aneurysms, and other cerebrovascular diseases.

Originally from North Bergen, New Jersey, Dr. Majmundar has been involved in neurosurgery for over a decade. Outside of work, he enjoys staying active, traveling, and exploring the Valley. He values teaching and mentorship and is actively involved in medical education. Dr. Majmundar is fluent in Gujarati.
