Walter Wakwe, MD, is a board-certified thoracic surgeon with specialized training from Emory University's Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship and its Transplant Immunology Research Program. He has eight years of experience in thoracic surgery, with expertise in treating esophageal and gastroesophageal junction cancer, lung cancer, mediastinal tumors, hiatal and paraesophageal hernias, GERD, achalasia and diaphragm conditions such as paralysis or paresis.
Dr. Wakwe offers advanced surgical options, including robotic thoracic and anti-reflux surgery, airway reconstruction, lung segmentectomy, diaphragm plication, thymectomy and tracheal resection.
