Newborn assessments, starting day one

At HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea, Four Peaks and Sonoran Crossing medical centers, providers from Phoenix Children’s evaluate newborns daily during their hospital stay, helping ensure your baby receives the highest standard of care. These assessments support early detection and timely treatment, giving you peace of mind during those first important days.

 

Specialized NICU care for high-risk needs

If your baby needs advanced medical support, Phoenix Children’s neonatologists provide specialized, around-the-clock care in the NICU. This seamless collaboration gives your family access to Phoenix Children’s advanced pediatric resources when you need them most.

Pediatric services designed for children

In addition to pediatric emergency care, we offer a range of services designed just for children in collaboration with Phoenix Children’s at HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center.

This includes:

  • Child life specialists to help your child feel comfortable and supported
  • Child-sized equipment for safer, more comfortable care
  • Pediatric-trained nurses and physicians who understand kids’ unique needs
  • Daily newborn assessments and in-person visits for babies, children and teens up to age 18
  • Specialty care in areas such as:
    • Cardiology
    • Orthopedics
    • Endocrinology
    • Ears, nose and throat (ENT)
    • Imaging and scans
    • Care for common pediatric illnesses

You may receive more than one bill — here’s why


Some providers bill independently from HonorHealth. In addition to a bill from Phoenix Children’s, other providers involved in your care, such as anesthesia, hospitalists or specialty physicians, may send separate bills.

Q: Who provides care for my baby?

A: Your baby’s care is a collaborative effort. Our obstetrics team at HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea and Sonoran Crossing medical centers work closely with pediatric providers and specialists from Phoenix Children’s to ensure seamless, coordinated care throughout your hospital stay.

Q: Will a Phoenix Children’s provider see my newborn?

A: Yes. Phoenix Children’s providers evaluate newborns daily until discharge as part of routine newborn care at HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea and Sonoran Crossing medical centers.

Q: What happens if my baby needs NICU care?

A: If your baby requires specialized support, Phoenix Children’s neonatologists provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week in the NICU at HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea, Four Peaks and Sonoran Crossing medical centers, with access to Phoenix Children’s advanced pediatric expertise.

Q: Why did I receive a bill from Phoenix Children’s if my baby was born at HonorHealth?

A: Phoenix Children’s providers are part of your baby’s care team through this collaboration. Professional services provided by Phoenix Children’s clinicians are billed separately from HonorHealth hospital services.

Q: Will I receive more than one bill?

A: Yes. You may receive more than one bill after your hospital stay. In addition to a bill from Phoenix Children’s, you may also receive separate bills for maternal care, newborn care or from other providers involved in your treatment, such as anesthesia, hospitalists or other physicians. Some providers are independent and bill separately from HonorHealth.

Q: Will I receive separate bills for my baby and for me?

A: Yes. It is common to receive separate bills for maternal care and newborn care, as well as for professional services provided by different care teams.

Q: Does this collaboration affect my insurance coverage?

A: Coverage depends on your individual insurance plan. Phoenix Children’s and HonorHealth work with many insurance providers, but benefits and out-of-pocket costs can vary. We recommend contacting your insurance company directly with questions about coverage.

Q: Can I request an estimate of costs?

A: Cost estimates may be available depending on your care needs and insurance coverage. Contact your insurance provider or the billing phone number listed on your bill for more information.

Q: Does receiving care from Phoenix Children’s change where follow-up care happens?

A: Follow-up care recommendations are based on your child’s individual needs. Your care team will guide you to appropriate next steps.
