Pediatric emergency care

While all HonorHealth emergency departments serve patients of all ages, HonorHealth offers a dedicated pediatric emergency department at Scottsdale Shea Medical Center. Designed just for kids and staffed by board-certified emergency physicians and compassionate nurses trained in pediatric care, our goal is to take the “scary” out of the hospital experience.

Care closer to home

Located just east of Loop 101 at Shea Boulevard and 90th Street, this Pediatric Emergency Department serves the Northeast Valley. The entrance is through the hospital’s main ED check-in, but you'll find a separate waiting room and registration area for children and families.

Scottsdale Shea’s Pediatric ED has a full complement of pediatric specialists available with 24-hour coverage for pediatric surgery and orthopedic needs.

Designed with the pediatric patient in mind, bed sizes range from youth to adult size for bigger kids. Cribs are used for infants and toddlers. All staff members are trained on how to communicate and interact with families and children, taking into account their age and development.

The environment is designed to be child-friendly and non-threatening so both children and parents can feel comfortable. Our Child Life Specialists are trained to support children and their families during their visit through calm, informative and assuring interactions. Distractions such as coloring books, toys, video games and books to read are readily available to all patients.
