HonorHealth is Tobacco-Free
HonorHealth maintains a smoke-free, tobacco-free environment across all our facilities. This policy reflects our commitment to providing quality care and a healing environment for our patients and their families. Patients who use tobacco products do not recover as quickly as those who do not. By making our campuses completely tobacco-free, we are able to limit the effect of secondhand smoke in all of our locations.
Patients will be provided, upon physician order, nicotine substitutes to help with the withdrawal of nicotine. Nicotine replacement products are also available within our gift shops for visitors, if needed.
Use of smoking tobacco and all other tobacco products is prohibited on any of the Network's properties — inside and outside, including parking areas.
Reporting Tobacco Use
If you encounter someone who is using tobacco (whether smoking or chewing tobacco) on the grounds of any HonorHealth facility, we encourage you to report it to us by dialing 0 from any house phone or asking the any staff member to do so.
The operator will relay your message to the most appropriate person to respond. Appropriate action will be taken, on your behalf, to enforce our tobacco-free policy. As a patient or visitor, you need not confront the smoker directly.
Please be advised that HonorHealth employees have been trained on how to approach patients and visitors if they are using tobacco products on our campuses. Tobacco users will be asked to discontinue tobacco usage immediately.
Help Available from ASHLine
If you are a smoker who is interested in trying to quit, the Arizona Smokers' Helpline (ASHLine) has been helping people quit tobacco since 1995. The organization offers Web-based quit services at ashline.org, as well as free telephone support.
ASHline provides quit coaches, many of whom are former tobacco users and are trained professionals who will help you customize and follow a quit plan. They act as your personal trainer for quitting tobacco and help you set goals, work toward a quit date, and provide support.
Just like a personal trainer, a quit coach will work with you one-on-one to keep you on track and help you make adjustments to your quit plan along the way.
To speak with a quit coach, call the Arizona Smokers' Helpline (ASHLine) at 800-556-6222.
