Language interpretation and translation services
You deserve to feel heard and understood in your care. At HonorHealth, we provide interpreters in more than 250 languages, including ASL, at no cost to you or your family. Language and Cultural Services works with you and your care team to remove language barriers, so you can feel confident, supported and fully involved throughout your visit.
Ensuring clear communication for everyone
In accordance with Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, HonorHealth takes steps to ensure that Limited English Proficient (LEP) and Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) individuals have meaningful access to the health services offered across the HonorHealth network.
HonorHealth does not discriminate or treat people differently based on race, color, country of origin, age, disability or sex.
HonorHealth recognizes that clear, effective communication between patients, companions, authorized representatives and the care team is both a patient right and a vital part of quality healthcare. Effective communication helps ensure the best possible outcomes for everyone involved. Our Language and Cultural Services team provides the support LEP and DHH patients need to communicate fully and confidently during their care.
Interpreter and communication support
At HonorHealth, interpreters and other communication accommodations are available anytime. You can ask for these services when you arrive or at any point during your visit, and our team will also help identify your needs.
To protect your privacy and ensure accuracy, we generally do not recommend using family members or friends as interpreters. In urgent situations, we may rely on them until a qualified interpreter is available. Minors cannot serve as interpreters under any circumstances.
We’re committed to finding the right accommodations to support clear, effective communication for every patient and family we serve.
Language support tools available to you
If you prefer – or need – to receive your healthcare information in a language other than English, HonorHealth offers a variety of tools to help, based on availability:
- Video remote interpreters: Rolling carts with tablets connect you to a qualified interpreter by video or voice. ASL and 30 other languages are available via video, with an additional 250 languages available by voice. Our nursing team can also access interpreters directly through their Rover devices.
- Over-the-phone interpreters: Dual-handset phones are available throughout HonorHealth to connect you with an interpreter. Your care team can also access an interpreter through any phone.
- Interpreters for telehealth or virtual visits: For virtual care, interpreters are available in more than 30 languages, including ASL.
- On-site Spanish medical interpreters: Fully certified Spanish medical interpreters are part of our team and available to support you in person.
