Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer in men in the United States. In fact, nearly one in six men will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime. Although it can affect anyone, men with a family history of prostate cancer or those who are African American are at a higher risk of developing the disease.
It's especially important to note that different men may have very different symptoms, and some may not have any symptoms at all. The good news is that prostate cancer is highly treatable when found early.
Many treatment options are available, including surgery called radical prostatectomy to remove the prostate. Minimally invasive surgery using the da Vinci Robotic Surgery System is an alternative to open radical prostatectomy and provides a host of advantages for prostate surgery patients.
HonorHealth has the most experience in robotic prostatectomy in Arizona, having performed the first in the state in October 2002.
