Family medicine medical student program
Family Medicine Sub-Internship (4 Weeks)
Fourth-year medical students from U.S. or LCME-accredited schools (or equivalent) who are interested in Family Medicine are invited to apply for a 4-week sub-internship with our residency program. This hands-on experience includes:
- Inpatient care: Two weeks on the hospital service (including one week of night float), managing medical, surgical, GYN, and ICU/CCU patients as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Outpatient care: Two weeks in our continuity clinic, working with a collaborative care team (nutrition, counseling, nursing, care coordination, pharmacy) and contributing to a population health project.
- Education: Teaching rounds, required didactics, and ongoing feedback with a final summative evaluation.
- Availability: Offered year-round, based on space and applicant qualifications.
- Note: No stipend is provided.
Rotation request process
- Apply via VSLO.
- You will need to provide transcripts, CV, board scores and a Family Medicine Rotation Application (located in VSLO)
For a rotation decision to be made, all documents are required for a rotation decision to be uploaded in VSLO.
Your application will be reviewed by the clerkship director. You will then be notified of acceptance or denial in VSLO based upon availability and the documentation provided.
