Internal Medicine Thompson Peak Medical Student Program

Sub-internship (4 weeks)

Fourth-year medical students from U.S. or LCME-accredited schools (or equivalent) who are interested in Internal Medicine residency are invited to apply for a 4-week sub-internship with our residency program. This hands-on experience includes:

  • Inpatient: Four weeks on our hospital service (either at John C. Lincoln Medical Center or Thompson Peak Medical Center) managing medical and subspecialty patients as part of a multidisciplinary resident team. You will be given intern-level responsibilities for 3-4 patients.
  • Education: Teaching rounds, didactics and ongoing feedback with a final summative evaluation.
  • Availability: Offered year-round, based on space and applicant qualifications.
  • Note: No stipend is provided.

Apply via VSLO

  • You will need to provide transcripts, CV, board scores and an Internal Medicine Rotation Application (located in VSLO)

For a rotation decision to be made, all documents are required for a rotation decision to be uploaded in VSLO.

Your application will be reviewed by our faculty. You will then be notified of acceptance in VSLO based upon availability and the documentation provided.

Please note – we wish we could accommodate all requests for rotations – but space is quite limited. Not receiving a sub-internship offer does not imply you are not a good fit for our program.
