Application information

Application to the Internal Medicine program is through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) as we participate in the NRMP Match service which is held in the fall of each academic year. Each applicant’s profile is carefully reviewed by candidate selection committee members to include personal statements, letters of recommendation, standardized exam scores (USMLE Step 3 and COMLEX 3), research, volunteer and other education or work experience.

Based on recommendation of the committee, applicants are invited for interview. This is where we can assess their communication skills, professionalism, life experiences and interest in pursuing Internal Medicine training. Applicants have an opportunity to ask questions, tour the hospital, and interact with other residents, faculty and administration. We have a great mix of residents in our program who come from varied and diverse backgrounds. These individuals bring different perspectives to enhance the program and have a sincere desire to become the best Internist or move on to a sub-specialty fellowship, one who will serve their communities as competent, sincere and ethical physicians.
