Structural Cardiology Fellowship

The Structural Cardiology Fellowship at HonorHealth is a 1-year, non-ACGME accredited program designed to provide highly specialized training in diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures in structural heart disease. Fellows train in a high volume structural heart program that provides exposure to the full spectrum of contemporary transcatheter therapies, from patient selection through long term follow up, building the skills and confidence necessary for independent practice.

The program is grounded in a collaborative, multidisciplinary heart team model, offering close interaction with interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery, cardiac imaging, anesthesiology, heart failure, and nursing leadership to support comprehensive, patient centered decision making. Structural heart training is seamlessly integrated with advanced multimodality imaging, including TEE, ICE, cardiac CT, and fluoroscopy, highlighting the critical role of imaging in procedural planning, execution, and outcomes. Fellows progress through increasing levels of responsibility under the guidance of experienced structural faculty, benefiting from close mentorship, individualized feedback, and graduated autonomy aligned with career goals.

Opportunities for innovation and research include participation in clinical trials, device evaluations, and outcomes research, with support for scholarly activity and national and international presentations. Graduates are well prepared for careers in academic medicine or advanced clinical practice, with an emphasis on leadership development and sound clinical judgment, all within a supportive, inclusive environment that values wellness, professional growth, and team based excellence.
 

Application information

Candidates for the fellowship must be board certified in Internal Medicine and have completed at least three years of fellowship training in cardiovascular disease at an ACGME accredited institution. Applicants must have completed, or be currently enrolled in, an ACGME accredited interventional cardiology fellowship program. Fellows are required to have successfully passed all three steps of the USMLE.
